During Opens, Walter Katz noted that the analog BIRD proposal he submitted to the mailing list was indeed intended for discussion by the IBIS Interconnect Task Group, as the proposed BIRD would affect package model treatment in IBIS. Michael Mirmak summarized the review comments in rev. 0.4 of the comments tracking sheet, now available on-line. All but two, #88 and #104, have been addressed through changes, as reflected in the posted Review Draft 1.1. Michael noted that several issues were being addressed by the authors of the source documents. In one case, regarding the requirement that Touchstone files use s#p as a mandatory extension, Touchstone 2.0 clearly Makes this optional but 1.1 implies a requirement. Radek Biernacki indicated that this was a requirement in the original 1.0 document, but that is was later removed. Several other issues were discovered in the course of 1.1 review: - Arpad Muranyi suggested that the phrase "statement continuation" may be more appropriate than "line continuation" in several places - The document contains a phrase that should read: "individual input line (combination of characters *terminated* by line-termination sequences)" (asterisks for emphasis of change) - Radek suggested that the document specify that the \\ sequence concatenates the following line in its entirety - Radek also noted that the phrase "Table2Table2" occurs at least once in the document - On p. 23, the first paragraph should be moved up in the document, as it refers to an example that was given several pages earlier. Arpad asked whether a distinction should be made between nested subcircuits and sequential Subcircuits, as far as minimal IBIS-ISS file requirements. Both Radek and Michael noted that either way should be acceptable. Bob Ross suggested that the revisions be discussed with Synopsys, the original authors of the source documents. To resolve issue #88, Radek has an AR to supply a formula and/or explanatory text on Foster models. Only half of the 1.1 document was reviewed during the meeting. The second half will be reviewed in the next meeting. In the last ten minutes of the meeting, Walter Katz began reviewing his analog BIRD proposal. He noted that the approach supports single-ended and differential packages on pins, both in traditional IBIS keywords and in IBIS-AMI structures. John Angulo suggested identifying the specific problem being addressed vs. current approaches, to clarify the value of the proposal. Discussion on the BIRD will continue in the next meeting.
